I saw that a lot of people want to start in gaming industry. It's not so easy are there are a lot of jobs you can get in this field.
Every gamer has a time when he tries to make a game. Usually he opens google and search " how to make a game " or something but this won't help a lot.
I had the same problem 1-2 years ago when I really didn't know where to start. I had no one to help. After a while I understood what I need and I learnt how to learn.
Yeap that's right. You don't need me to teach you gaming programming or design. I will teach you how to learn.
First of all, you have to decide where do you want to work. Do you have a good mind, are you good at math and do you like to learn new things forever? - then go for programming
Are you a good artist, do you know how to draw good stuff or do you have 3D imagination? Then the design is for you.
A good game has also a good soundtrack so even a composer can get employed.
Every job has a lot of jobs within. A design team needs someone to draw characters, 3d design and the list is very long but I think you are looking for a place to start for now.
My dream is to work at Ubisoft or EA. I really like their games but it will be really hard. My piece of advice for you is to start somewhere, make a little game and then something more complex, make a good portfolio and send it to them. They can't refuse good people. In my country they try to teach children in schools how to make games in order to have good people in the future and that's a great idea.
    Anyway, let's start it.
This tutorial is for someone who never programmed before and he wants to make a little game, to start in gaming industry. I won't teach you programming but I will teach you how to learn.
    This was my path:
First of all, I learnt some HTML/CSS and then Javascript in order to see how things works in programming world. They are not programming languages but you still need a good thinking.
Then I learnt a lot of new things like PHP,jQuery,Java etc but it doesn't matter.
After you get the basics in it you need to pick an engine and learn how it works. Stick with one you like, don't use 10+ because you will get lost.
There are 3 engines I highly recommend.
    1. Unity
It's free, easy to learn and it has a great community. You code once and the game runs on every platform. This engine uses javascript/c# or a new language made by unity developers but I recommend to learn javascript.
Jimmy Vegas is one of the best teachers I found on youtube. I learnt a lot from him and he is developing a new game with his team. They need money to make more tutorials and to pay the team.
This is his channel: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCRMXHQ2rJ9_0CHS7mhL7erg He also teaches Unreal Engine and I will talk soon about it.
After you learn the basics from Jimmy try to learn more about unity using their website: https://unity3d.com/ .

    2. Unreal Engine
Free, easy, uses mostly c++, better environment and a lot of new things. I think I said everything I had to say about this engine. There are a lot of games made with unreal engine: Batman Arkham series, Paladins, Mortal Kombat and the list
    is very long.
As a begginer I would pick unity but if you are crazy just go for unreal engine :)
    Their website: https://www.unrealengine.com/what-is-unreal-engine-4

    3. Cryengine
This is not as popular as Unity and Unreal engine, but a lof of good games were made with it. Examples: Warface, Crysis, Far Cry etc.
You need to know c++, c# or Lua in order to make games here.
    Their website: https://www.cryengine.com/

I forgot to say one thing. Before you learn an engine, if you want to follow my path go on codecademy.com and learn as much as you can.
THIS IS THE FIRST THING YOU NEED TO LEARN(sorry for caps by the way)

There are a lot of different engines like Game Maker, RPG Maker etc but if you want to get hired and earn a lot of money, go for Unity or Unreal Engine. You will probably
start as a game tester but in time you will become a senior programmer/designer or even composer.
This article is written from my experience, I tried every engine I talked about and I hope my article will help you.

I am looking forward for your questions :)
